I received my first camera in 1964, started my professional photography business in Ottawa 1980. In 1996 I was awarded a Master of Photographic Arts by the Professional Photographers of Canada. It has been a long road, I have studied with the great master photographers of our time, learned a lot, seen a lot. This blog is simply my opinions, ideas, observations, tips, advice and rants on photography, equipment and of course professional photography and photographers in general.

RBC Bunch in the Vineyard
Judy and I made the long drive down to Niagara on The Lake for the "RBC Bunch in the Vineyard" charity fundraiser on Sunday. Perfect weather, free samples from eight amazing restaurants and twenty wineries. Very pleased to find so many vegetarian options too. A true first class event and well worth the trip. We have already planned to attend next year.
When I travel now I only bring my little Fuji X100 digital camera to get my travel photos. A simple non intimidating camera.

Thirty Nine
This month Spencer Studio celebrates our 39th year in business. Our launch in 1980 went unnoticed as the business world focused on the newest high tech invention from Japan, the fax machine, and 3M's launch of Post-It Notes, the birth of CNN and of course the world changing release of Pac-Man.
In 1980 the whole world was fixated by Mount St. Helens, the assassination of John Lennon and was wondered Who Shot JR?
So here we are in 2019, and after 39 years, surviving three recessions and reinventing ourselves about four times Spencer Studio is still here and doing fine.
I just wanted to say thank you for the decades of support, the opportunities and the love. Thirty nine years thrilled being part of your lives, there to photograph your graduations, your weddings, your promotions and your babies. With no plans to retire in the near future I look forward to next year and opportunities it will bring.
